Mercari Seller Fees: How Much Does Mercari Take?

If you are wonderinghow much does Mercari take from a sale, you are not alone. Mercari implemented a massive change to their fee structure starting in 2025. After temporarily removing selling fees in 2024, they brought them back to balance the marketplace.

So, what percentage does Mercari take? As a seller in 2026, you will pay a flat 10% Mercari selling fee on the completed item price and any buyer-paid shipping. The major perk? Mercari removed all payment processing fees for sellers. You are strictly charged the 10% fee. Use our Mercari fee calculator above to instantly find your expected net profit.

How Much Does It Cost to Sell on Mercari?

Listing items is entirely free, so your primary cost is the 10% Mercari seller fee applied when your item sells. However, the way you handle shipping impacts your bottom line. If you use a Mercari Prepaid label, you choose whether you or the buyer pays.

  • If the buyer pays: The label cost is added at checkout. Mercari applies the 10% fee to the total cost (Item Price + Shipping).
  • If you pay (Free Shipping): The 10% fee is only applied to the item price, but the actual cost of the label is deducted from your sales profit.

Mercari Prepaid Labels vs. Shipping on Your Own

Mercari strongly encourages sellers to use their prepaid labels (USPS, FedEx, or UPS Ground). These labels offer standard and economy rates at an average of 39% to 54% off retail pricing. Using a prepaid label is the easiest way to manage your Mercari fees.

More importantly, shipping with a Mercari label qualifies your package for Mercari Buyer Protection and Seller Shipping Protection. If an item is lost or damaged in transit, you are covered up to $200 (or $20 for USPS First-Class envelopes).

If you choose to Ship on your own, you must pay the carrier out of pocket and provide valid tracking. Be warned: packages shipped on your own do not qualify for Mercari's shipping protection. If it gets lost, Mercari will not initiate a payout or investigate.

Understanding "Best" vs. "Standard" Rates

When generating a label, Mercari utilizes a two-tier pricing system based on your package dimensions. To qualify for the cheaper "Best Rate", your package must be smaller than a standard shoebox (specifically, 1 cubic foot or less, with the longest side not exceeding 22 inches). If your box exceeds these dimensions, the higher "Standard Rate" will apply. Always measure accurately to avoid post-delivery overage fees!
