Calculating Your Margin: How Much Does Poshmark Take?

If you are new to reselling, figuring out your margins means asking: how much does Poshmark take when you make a sale? Unlike other platforms with complex payment processing tiers, calculating Poshmark fees is incredibly simple and straightforward.

  • Sales under $15: Poshmark takes a Poshmark flat fee of $2.95. You keep the rest.
  • Sales of $15 or more: What percentage does Poshmark take? They take a flat 20% commission, meaning you keep exactly 80% of the sale price.

Listing an item in your closet is 100% free. You are only charged these Poshmark seller fees after your item successfully sells. You can use our Poshmark fee calculator above to instantly forecast your take-home pay.

How Overweight Packages Impact the Poshmark Calculator

Another massive benefit to calculating margins on this platform is the standard shipping policy. Because the buyer automatically covers the standard label at checkout, you do not have to calculate shipping deductions for the vast majority of your items.

The Seller Exception: If your package weighs more than 5 lbs, the seller is responsible for covering the overweight shipping label upgrade. If you sell heavy items like winter coats or boot bundles, this extra cost comes directly out of your earnings. Make sure to toggle the overweight switch in our Poshmark calculator to find your true net profit after all deductions.

Calculating the Texas Seller Fee Tax

As of October 1st, 2025, sellers located in Texas have an additional tax deducted from their earnings. This is not a tax on the item, but a state-mandated tax on the Poshmark seller fees themselves.

Poshmark applies this additional tax to 80% of your commission fee. The tax rate applied includes the 6.25% Texas state sales tax plus any applicable local sales taxes where you reside (meaning the combined rate is typically around 8.25%). If you reside in Texas, simply toggle the switch in the Poshmark fee calculator above to automatically apply this math to your final payout.
